Topic: “Rapid Diagnostic
Methods for Practical Screening of Antibiotic
Residues in Food Products”
Speaker: Robert Markovsky, Vice President of
Operations, Charm Sciences Inc. USA
Abstract
Testing to ensure better Food Quality
continues to be a relevant topic throughout the
world. Manufacturers are in need of screening
methods that are accurate, easy to use, and
efficient. It is the responsibility of
scientists to provide the innovative tools
necessary to meet such needs. The manner in
which different diagnostic technologies such as
RIA, ELISA and Lateral Flow can effectively be
used to screen for antibiotic residues in the
Food Industry will be discussed. The
implementation of an effective screening program
by industry can reduce the instances of
antibiotic residues in the food supply. Coupled
with government monitoring, the implementation
of these methods will aid in continuing to
provide the consumer with safer and higher
quality food products.
