Topic: “The Interest of
Automated Methods in Food Microbiology Labs"
Speaker: Francis Doleans, Industry Business,
Biomerieux China Limited
Abstract
There are many reasons to perform
microbiology tests in a food lab, from mandatory
to voluntary testing. In all cases labs will
have to perform either the enumeration of
microorganisms or/and Pathogens testing. Beside
the reference methods (ISO, BAM, etc.),
alternative methods are proposed. During this
lecture the 5 main requirements given by the
laboratories worldwide will be reviewed. VIDAS
instruments as well as TEMPO have been designed
with an international panel of experts. They
combined ease of use, performances and
traceability. To be official methods bioMerieux
is always going through approval schemes of AOAC
in North America, ISO 16140 in Europe, GB and SN
standard in China, etc. These National and
International recognition of bioMerieux systems
is the evidence of our engagement in food
safety.
