Breakout Session E: Chemical Food Safety Hot Topics
Topic: “Developing Global Food Safety (Risk/Crisis) Communications in a Global Food Environment”
Speaker: Anthony Flood, International Food Information Council, U.S.A.

Abstract
In this era of an abundant food supply, we are constantly reminded of the enormous impact of our global food environment. Food available today in the U.S. comes from all parts of the world and the impact food safety plays is paramount in ensuring a safe and abundant food supply. But what happens when the safety of our food is compromised? How do we provide important food safety information to diverse populations in the event of a food safety crisis event or after an intentional attack on the food supply? This session presentation will delve into the development of effective food safety (and defense) risk / crisis communication messages important to everyone from farm to fork before, during and after a food safety crisis event.
